Ryan Hill

KGTV

MMJ/Reporter

Ryan is stoked to be in San Diego! He’s coming to the area from Sacramento. So, he only had to shuffle his area codes around a little bit, trading the 916 for the 619.

While in Sacramento, he was a reporter and multimedia journalist for the CBS13 news team. During his time there, Ryan covered one of California’s most devastating wildfire seasons with the LNU Complex Fire and the Glass Fire heavily impacting Northern California. He also covered some of the first U.S. State Department flights to arrive at Travis Air Force Base at the start of the pandemic. In addition, he spoke to Sacramento locals who were stuck on the Diamond and Grand Princess cruise ships that were stuck in Japan. Ryan was also a part of the CBS13 news team as they covered the social and economic changes that swept through Sacramento as the pandemic unfold and we all adjusted to the “new normal.” He also covered the first George Floyd protests that were in and around the State Capitol building and downtown Sacramento.

Prior to his time in Sacramento, Ryan spent four years in El Paso, Texas at KFOX14/CBS4. He covered city and county government, controversial state legislation, a hospital bankruptcy case, a heated downtown El Paso arena project, and border issues on one of the largest border regions in the country. Ryan also covered a presidential campaign rally in El Paso and Pope Francis’ visit to Ciudad Juarez. He also filled in on the anchor desk and the CBS4 Sports desk during his time there.

Ryan calls Florida home but he has bounced around quite a bit. He was born in Detroit, lived in Reno, Nevada, Marin County, St. Petersburg, Florida and McLean, Virginia. Ryan is a proud graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. To quote Rod Tidwell from Jerry Maguire, “I’m a Sun Devil, man!”

Ryan’s a big San Francisco Giants fan (sorry not sorry, y’all), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and you can find him parked in front of a TV on Saturdays for college football. He’s still waiting and praying for a chance for redemption to see OutKast after missing out on their reunion tour from a few years ago.
