SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A jury Monday found the man suspected of killing his 58-year-old mother guilty.

Joseph Burks was found guilty of first-degree murder and is scheduled to be sentenced on July 13.

According to police, Burks called 911 in July of 2017 to report being injured during an altercation in Clairemont.

Burks told police he was “injured in an assault involving a knife” at a home on the 4300 block of Mt. Outman Avenue. Officers who responded to the scene found the caller in front of the home and detained him.
