SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions are teaming up with the Department of Health and Human Services to administer COVID-19 vaccines.

The vaccinations will be distributed at 37 pharmacy locations in the San Diego area. Each pharmacy has received its first 200 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The grocery store chains have partnered with the San Diego Public Health Department to provide COVID immunizations to everyone eligible under Phase 1A criteria. This includes front-line workers in the Emergency Response and Healthcare sector.

Albertsons issued a statement saying that its pharmacies will work with the CDC to streamline and optimize the vaccine's delivery by working closely to coordinate, track and monitor distribution.

“Throughout the pandemic, the communities we serve have trusted our pharmacy teams to play a critical role in maintaining their health and wellness,” said Lionel Moore, Director of Pharmacy for Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions. “We are preparing our specially trained pharmacy teams to handle the unprecedented demand and administer the vaccine safely and efficiently as members of the public become eligible.”

Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions will also deliver vaccines to certain long-term care facilities and skilled nursing facilities in the greater Southern California region.
