SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - While many will enjoy an extended weekend this Memorial Day, many will also stop to give thanks and remember service members who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
In San Diego, there are plenty of ways to take part in Memorial Day services. The federal holiday is marked on the last Monday in May.
Local national cemeteries plan to hold services honoring fallen troops and their memory.
Here are some ways to honor fallen U.S. service members this weekend:
Where: Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego
Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery will hold its annual services commemorating fallen service men and women with war veteran organizations, auxiliaries, and patriotic groups.
Where: 5795 Nobel Dr. San Diego
Honored guests will speak and hold services commemorating service members who gave their lives.
Where: 3191 Orange Street, National City
La Vista Memorial Park will hold Memorial Day services in a free community-wide event with National City public officials.
Where: 6905 La Jolla Scenic Drive S., La Jolla
Mt. Soledad's annual ceremony also pays tribute to a specific veteran in addition to service members. This year, a special plaque presentation honoring Ulysses S. Grant will be held.
Where: USS Midway Museum, 910 N Harbor Drive, San Diego
The USS Midway Museum will host Legacy Week with a lineup of activities from a wreath laying to a benefit concert to a blood drive. The museum will also have interactive exhibits available celebrating military heroes and heritage.

Register to run in support of the EOD Warrior Foundation at the Undefeated 5K run and walk, where EOD operates will also relay in their EOD suits. All for a great cause.

The Padres will commemorate Memorial Day with a special ceremony for military members and themed hat giveaway.
