SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police arrested a man Saturday after a chase that ended with a crash into a City Heights elementary school.
Police said the man was driving a truck wanted in connection with a shooting a few weeks ago.
The driver pulled over in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store on Fairmont Ave. but drove away, said police.
After a brief pursuit, the driver crashed through two fences at Central Elementary school, sending one fence flying across the playground, according to officers.
Police said the truck drove through the parking lot of Fire Station 17 in City Heights, knocking down a chain link fence. The driver stopped when the fence was caught in the truck's tires.
The man got out of the truck with a gun in his hand, police said, but they subdued him.
Police said he had methamphetamine and heroin in the truck.
Officers have not released details regarding the shooting that prompted the chase.
