DUI driver rear-ends Chula Vista police officer, CVPD says

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Chula Vista police officer and several others were taken to the hospital following a crash in Chula Vista early Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of Telegraph Canyon Road and Paseo Ranchero, police say.

According to police, the driver of a Scion TC was traveling west on Telegraph Canyon Road when they rear ended a police vehicle before slamming into a Honda CRV stopped in the left turn pocket.

The officer, along with the driver of the Scion and the driver and passenger of the CRV were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police later arrested the driver of the Scion for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
