22-year-old pedestrian hit, killed in Oceanside

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 22-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver believed to be under the influence in Oceanside early Sunday morning, police say.

According to police, the crash happened just after 1 a.m. on North Coast Highway and Sportfisher Drive.

Police say a 22-year-old man was crossing the street when he was hit by a driver along North Coast Highway. The man was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver stopped at the scene and waited for police to arrive. “Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision and the driver, William Vaden 31, was arrested for DUI at this time,” police said.

The name of the victim hasn’t been released at this time.
