(KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff's Department Tuesday shared video of deputies serenading seniors living alone during the coronavirus pandemic.

The sweet moment is all part of the department's "You Are Not Alone" program.

"We want our senior and disabled residents to know they are never alone even during a global pandemic," the department said.

"We understand this health crisis can be isolating. That's why we decided to spread some cheer while observing social distancing. Deputies serenaded YANA members in Poway and San Marcos."

During the coronavirus, senior volunteers check on participants in the YANA program through daily phone calls to make sure they have what they need to make it through the pandemic.

If someone doesn't answer the calls, a deputy then conducts a welfare check to ensure the safety of participants.
