SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands of San Diegans have been left without a job due to the coronavirus pandemic and ABC 10News is committed to helping them get back on their feet.

Police Dispatcher
Employer: The City of Coronado

Description: The job of a police dispatcher is one of the most challenging and rewarding career paths available. Our mission is to provide the highest quality of service to the officers and residents of Coronado. We contribute to the safety and security of officers and the public by providing a well-trained staff that meets the officer’s and resident’s expectations of professionalism, sensitivity, and effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic customer service minded individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Good judgement, high attention to detail and the ability to elicit crucial information from distressed callers in a timely manner is essential in the police dispatcher role. Successin this role requires excellent multi-tasking abilities in order to effectively interview callers on emergency 9-1-1 and non-emergency lines while operating the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to monitor numerous frequencies and format requests for police, fire and emergency medical services to the appropriate agencies and departments. Previous experience in emergency services dispatching is highly desirable.

Required: A typing certificate with a net corrected speed of 40 words per minute dated within one year of the time of application is required and MUST be attached to the employment application in order to be considered to move forward in the process.

Receptionist

Senior Office Specialist
Employer: City of Chula Vista

Description: To perform a wide variety of complex, specialized and responsible clerical duties in support of specific functions or programs within a department. This class is the advanced journey level class of the Office Specialist series and is distinguished from the Office Specialist level by the degree of independence and specialized knowledge exercised in the performance of job duties.

Incumbents at this level may assume overall clerical responsibility for an assigned program area involving maintaining appropriate records, preparing necessary reports, and serving as an overall information source for the program, or they may be involved in providing lead support to positions within the Office Specialist class. Incumbents at this level may likewise exercise a high level of independence in providing office management support to an independent office, involving the performance of a broad range of administrative clerical tasks.

Required: One year of customer service and an FR or RA license is required.

Sales Associate
Employer: Spirit Halloween - National City

Description: The Sales Associate will support the Store Management Team in the setup, merchandising, pack-up and teardown of a seasonal store. The Sales Associate is responsible for maintaining Guest Services as per Company Standards. The Sales Associate will support the Store Management Team by generating sales, sign waving, general housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, POS operations and loss prevention. The minimum age requirement for this position is 16.

Required: The physical demands of the job require climbing ladders, setting up fixtures, lifting/moving up to 50 pounds and may require 8 hours of standing/walking.

Information Technology Network Administrator I/II
Employer: City of Coronado

Description: Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

Under general direction, the Information Network Administrator series will provide technical assistance to system users for computer, telephone, and network related problems; to serve as liaison in providing technical expertise in administration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operating the City's voice and data networks; to provide primary and secondary support for testing, installation, configuration, and support for PCs, servers, peripherals, and networking equipment; to provide primary and secondary support for system and network management, including security and resource inventory, monitoring, reporting, and troubleshooting.

Both the level I and II positions operate independently using judgment and relying on education and previous experience with the level I position exercising less independent judgment than the level II position.

Required: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience, Education/Training, Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License with a safe driving record. Possession of Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Certified Cisco Network Associate certifications preferred.

Waterborne Security Officer

Child and Youth Program Cook

Description: The primary purpose of this position is to perform a full range of simple cooking tasks to the Dining Services, Child and Youth Programs and Morale, Welfare and Recreation operations. NA-04 Prepares and cooks a full range of simple menu items according to established recipes. Assists in the preparation of more complex menu items. Animal Caregiver
Employer: San Diego Humane Society

Description: Responsible for the general care and maintenance of shelter animals including feeding, cleaning, disinfecting, grooming, vaccinating, medicating and possibly performing euthanasia. Provide daily care and enrichment for shelter animals as well as assisting with transport and assessment of animals as needed. Work cohesively with all departments to meet the mission, vision and goals of the organization are met as it relates to care of the animals.

Required: High school graduate or equivalent. One year experience working with animals in a shelter, kennel, vet clinic or volunteer environment strongly preferred. Working knowledge of animal breeds, general care and behavior related information. Must be independent worker with good organizational skills, ability to multi-task and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of or willingness to learn and perform euthanasia procedures for untreatable medical or behavioral conditions. Must be able to complete and pass required training, when provided by the society.
