BONSALL, Calif. (KGTV) - The quick thinking of a groomer helped save dozens of horses at San Luis Rey Downs training center in North San Diego County during the Lilac Fire.
Leo Tapia said he wasn’t thinking when he started recording the video. It has now been watched almost 300,000 times.
“I was just scared, but I wasn’t thinking. It was just too fast, everything,” said Tapia.
Tapia told 10News he opened the stable doors to give horses a chance.
“I love them because I work with them every day,” Tapia said.
Six horses Leo cares for didn’t make it out alive.
