SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An intense competition entered its final day on the water at Mission Bay on Monday.
Engineering students from all over the world raced their concrete canoes as part of the 31st annual National Concrete Canoe Competition. San Diego State hosted the event this year.
More than 200 teams competed for the top spot. Students are judged on their race results, the look of their canoe, an oral presentation, and a design paper.
The competition is a program of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The winners will get bragging rights, the "Civil Engineering Cup" and $5,000 in scholarship money for their school's engineering chapter.
