FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) — An 8-year-old child was killed Friday after being hit by a vehicle while walking with family in Fallbrook.
The child was walking across the entrance to a parking lot on Heald Lane at about 6:30 p.m., when a vehicle turned into the parking lot and struck the child, according to California Highway Patrol.
Paramedics arrived rushed the child to Rady Children's Hospital, however, the 8-year-old died on the way to the hospital.
Two family members were with the child when the crash occurred. The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 58-year-old woman, remained at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor, CHP said.
The child and driver were not immediately identified.
