SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego County Fair brings back all the things locals know and love year-after-year but, of course, there's always something new.

While families can check out the farm animals, top-notch musical acts, and foods that have made the fair their annual summer home, there are some special additions this year to go along with the "how sweet it is" theme.

The fair will offer a bit of solitude away from the scene at a Cocoa Cabana, featuring candy-infused cocktails in an oasis with lounge seating and a tropical backdrop. Guests simply need to find the hidden speakeasy for their own stop in paradise.

To give San Diegans a glimpse into the town's connection with sweets, the "Sweet: A Tasty Journey" exhibit will feature a chocolate river, the most famous candy factories locally and afar, games and activities and more.

For those looking for their "kid in a candy store" moment, Candy Pros has set up a colorful candy shop with gummy treats dipped in sweet sauces and sprinkles.

And look out for more colorful eats across the fairgrounds. Food vendors will be offering their own takes on "unicorn food" in the form of unicorn ice cream sandwiches, unicorn burgers and hot dogs, and other crazy dishes.

Also new this year are sensory stations, made especially for individuals with sensory-sensitive conditions such as autism or PTSD. The stations will be placed at guest services and "family funville."

On the festival scene, this year will feature a Bloom n' Art Garden Party, Festival de Mariachi, and Asian Festival among what's planned.

There are a ton of new ways to save as well, with deals and discounts on admission during special days and times.
