(KGTV) - If you're heading to the San Diego County Fair this year, plan your parking situation ahead of time.

With tens of thousands of San Diegans expected to visit the Del Mar area, planning where to park ahead of time will surely save drivers a headache.

For real-time parking updates, fair organizers recommend tuning into AM 1680.

Both on-site and off-site parking will be available.

On-site parking will open to vehicles at 8 a.m. on July 4. Lots close an hour after the grounds close.

  • General parking: $13.00
  • Preferred parking (limited): $23.00

Tram service to the fair will run continuously. Parking fees also apply to motorcycles, which will have a designated parking area in the Main Lot. Vehicles must fit in designated single parking spaces. Oversized vehicles, such as RVs, are not permitted in on-site lots.

Off-site, parking will be available at the following locations:

Del Mar Horsepark

  • Monday, July 3: 9 a.m. - closing
  • Tuesday, July 4: 9 a.m. - closing

Torrey Pines High School

  • Monday, July 3: 9 a.m. - closing
  • Tuesday, July 4: 9 a.m. - closing

Miracosta College San Elijo

  • Monday, July 3: 9 a.m. - closing
  • Tuesday, July 4: 9 a.m. - closing

Off-site parking is free of charge and on a space-available basis and each lot has disability-designated parking.

Free shuttle service will ferry fair-goers from these lots to the fair continuously to the O'Brien Gate (main gate.) Drinking, eating or smoking is not allowed on the shuttles. Shuttles are also available for wheelchairs and guests with disabilities.

Off-site parking lots stay open after the Del Mar Fairgrounds close and are lighted. Oversized vehicles are not allowed in these lots and each vehicle must fit in designated single parking spaces.
