SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna will be the San Diego Fleet's offensive coordinator while former Arizona State coach Larry Marmie will be their defensive coordinator, the Alliance of American Football team announced.

Kitna has coached at high schools in Washington state, Texas and Arizona since his NFL career ended in 2011.

Marmie was the St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator from 2004-05 under Fleet coach Mike Martz and defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals from 2000-03. He coached Arizona State to a 22-21-1 record from 1988-91.

The Fleet also announced the hirings of six assistant coaches.

Former San Diego State star Az-Zahir Hakim will be the receivers coach, former New York Giants special teams coach Larry MacDuff special teams and linebackers coach, Dre Bly, who played defensive back for Martz with the Rams, defensive backs coach, former University of Arizona defensive line coach Vince Amey defensive line coach, 2000 New York Jets first-round draft choice Anthony Becht tight ends coach, and Matt Kitna, a brother of Jon Kitna, assistant offensive line coach.

"I have a great deal of respect for what each of these coaches have accomplished and experienced throughout their careers and this group will help ensure that we put the best possible football product on the field each weekend in San Diego," Martz said. "We have a unique opportunity to provide our players with a dynamic staff that can help shape their careers in ways no other league can provide."

The eight-team league is set to begin play Feb. 9.
