A woman was run over by a city bus Saturday morning in the El Cerrito neighborhood when she ran after it in an attempt to retrieve her purse, according to police.
The 53-year-old woman exited the bus at a bus stop in the 5900 block of University Avenue at about 9:30 a.m., realized she left her purse onboard, ran after the bus, tripped and fell, and suffered a broken leg when the bus ran over her, according to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali.
The woman, whose identity was not released, was taken by ambulance to a hospital with multiple fractures to her lower left leg, Cali said.
