An early-morning collision in Mira Mesa left a woman dead and a man suspected of drunken driving hospitalized Sunday, according to San Diego Police.

A 19-year-old woman was driving west on Zapata Avenue at Camino Ruiz in an Acura at 1 a.m., Officer Robert Heims said.

Police said the woman pulled out from the stop sign on the side street, and her car was broadsided by a northbound Honda driven by a 21-year-old man.

The Honda driver was drunk, police said.

The woman was taken by paramedics to a local hospital, where she died, while the Honda driver was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, Heims said.
