SAN DIEGO -- Authorities Thursday released surveillance photos in an effort to identify and locate a woman suspected of using convincing counterfeit identification cards to cash checks at banks around San Diego County.
The woman used ID cards outfitted with her picture -- but with victims' names and information -- to cash stolen and counterfeit checks for more than $15,000 at local Bank of America branches between Aug. 9 and Sept. 7, according to San Diego police and Crime Stoppers. Authorities did not immediately say how she obtained the checks or how many victims were involved.
The suspect was described as a white woman of between 40 and 45, thin, with brown hair. She was seen in surveillance video driving a gold sedan, possibly a Saturn.
