(KGTV) -- Orange County residents Wednesday took to social media to post photos of the blackened sky caused by the Holy Fire, which continues to grow.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the blaze exploded in size Thursday and is still only five percent contained.

Photos posted to social media show the massive fire burning in the distance as thick, gray smoke fills the sky.

We are safe from the #HolyFire right now. It still would have to burn thousands of acres to reach us. Nevertheless any fire in the #ClevelandNationalForest is concerning for us... not just because we hike there but also because it is our home. So many prayers and thoughts go out to all of those affected in both the Riverside and Orange County communities being affected by this. It is scary and we have never seen anything like this. Thank you to all of the FD and PD units working on putting this monster out! ❀️🐢 β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” #treeingwalkercoonhound #coonhound #hound #iflmd #nikon #nikond3300 #houndsofinstagram #treeingwalker #weeklyfluff #skythewalker #dogoftheday #dogsofinstaworld #ilovemydog #instapup #dog #instadog #fitdogs #coonhoundsofinstagram @coonhoundsofinstagram #dogsofinstagram #dogstagram #instadog #doslagos #coronaca #socaldogs
