SAN DIEGO - Power outages left thousands of homes and businesses temporarily without electrical service across the San Diego area Wednesday.

The first blackout occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m., initially affecting about 2,330 addresses in Balboa Park, Golden Hill, Lincoln Park, Logan Heights, Mountain View, Naval Base San Diego, Naval Air Station North Island and Tijuana River Park, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

Crews had service restored to all the affected communities by late morning, the utility company reported.

A second outage took place shortly after 8:30 a.m. and briefly knocked out power to roughly 4,300 addresses at Camp Pendleton and in the Ocean Hills, Oceanside, and San Luis Rey areas.

As of early afternoon, power had been restored to all of those customers as well, according to SDG&E.

The causes of both blackouts were under investigation.
