SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- This weekend children working to overcome the impact of abuse and domestic violence got an early holiday gift.
They spent the day with senior citizens for the annual reindeer games, filled with games, desserts, and prizes with senior citizens. But the biggest gift of all was companionship with new friends.
For several years Camp Hope has partnered with Mt. Miguel Covenant Village to put on the event.
During their summer program, Camp Hope begins the process of giving children and teens their childhood back. They continue that journey throughout the year with events like the Reindeer Games.
Senior citizens say they get just as much out of it as the kids do.
"We just want to love on them. Most of us are grandmas or grandpas and try to give them a little joy," said Bobette Barford, a resident at Mt. Miguel.
The event also gives some needed hope to the children's parents and caretakers.
