SAN DIEGO – An 18-year-old San Diego woman was found shot dead in Tijuana earlier this month.
According to the newspaper Tijuana Sin Censura, the body of Desteny Hernandez was discovered on Sept. 9.
She had been partying in Tijuana with friends when she went missing. According to Sin Censura, she sent a final set of text messages to a friend in the early morning hours of Sept. 7 using WhatsApp. In the messages she said she was leaving a bar with two men, Sin Censura reported.
Her body was found dumped beside a highway. She had several gunshot wounds to her face and upper body. The exact circumstances of her death and the investigation have not been confirmed.
Her family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for her funeral.
