SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A young girl was rushed to the hospital Thursday night after police said she fell from a fourth-floor window at an apartment complex.

Police rushed to the 9100 block of Judicial Drive at around 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a child falling out of a window and onto concrete at the Garden Communities complex.

Emergency responders rushed the two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who was unconscious, to Rady Children’s Hospital via ambulance.

A woman who may have been the child's mother was spotted with her as the ambulance left. 10News learned the girl is in intensive care.

Police told 10News it appears the girl pushed out a screen from the window, leading to the fall.

Hospital officials said they see dozens of similar cases per year, as many children are natural climbers and very curious.
