CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - San Diego police are investigating the death of a teen who was dropped off at a Coronado hospital Monday night with a gunshot wound he apparently suffered while in the Mountain View area.

Coronado police confirmed 17-year-old Fernando Rosas-Sanchez was dropped off at Sharp Coronado Hospital just after 7:30 p.m. with a gunshot wound to his upper body. According to police, he was taken to the hospital by two other people.

Rosas-Sanchez died from his injuries, police said.

San Diego police determined that Rosas-Sanchez was shot in an area near the 300 block of Olivewood Terrace in Mountain View.

"We learned from those two companions that a possible incident occurred here at 300 Olivewood Terrace," said SDPD Homicide Lt. Anthony Dupree. "We're currently investigating that right now; we have no other information on who may be involved."

SDPD homicide detectives said they are unsure why the teen was taken from the Mountain View neighborhood to the hospital in Coronado.
