Two people were assaulted on their porch in the San Diego neighborhood of Lake Murray, police said.

A man believed to be in his early 40s broke in to the victims' gated porch in the 6300 block of Lake Kathleen Avenue at about 7:49 p.m. Friday.

The attacker wielded a gun and a knife as he threatened a male victim, according to San Diego Police officer Robert Heims. The suspect swung the knife and lashed the victim on the right finger and arm.

The attacker then put the knife away and pulled out a baton. He hit the man on the shoulder, spun around, hit the other victim on the head then ran away, Heims said.

Details about the second victim were not released.

The attacker was described as white with brown hair, blue eyes and a medium build. Police were told that he wore all black clothing, Heims said.

Both victims were treated at the scene by paramedics, Heims said.

San Diego police ask anyone with information about the attack to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
