POWAY, Calif. — A SUV running from the police smashed into the side of a Poway home waking up the homeowners who were inside sleeping.
It also woke up some neighbors who said they heard a loud screeching noise and then a thud.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the chase started 3:17 a.m. Sunday morning near Mission Valley on the Westbound side of Interstate 8, near Mission Center Road.
The driver led officers to the 163 freeway at Genesee Avenue, the 15 freeway and exited onto Poway Road.
The chase led straight to the home on Coyotero Drive when the white SUV plowed right into it, shattering glass and demolishing the side of the home.

The homeowners said the car dove into their home office. No one was inside the room at the time of the crash.
The homeowners also told 10News they have surveillance cameras surrounding their home that show someone got out of the SUV, jumped a fence in the back of the house and took off.
Deputies were still on the scene looking for that person and collecting evidence Sunday morning.
