DEL MAR, Calif. - A train struck a 71-year-old man on a stretch of rail near Seagrove Park Tuesday.
The extent of the victim's injuries was not immediately clear following the crash, which occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. off the 1400 block of Ocean Avenue in Del Mar, a sheriff's dispatcher said.
Rail service through the area was suspended due to the investigation, and affected riders were offered bus service, according to North County Transit District officials.

Just after 1:15 p.m., NCTD officials announced the track was clear and service was once again underway.
