2019 has been a good year for Alex Morgan. In July, Morgan led the United States Women's National Team to a second consecutive World Cup title.
On Wednesday, Morgan announced she is expecting a child.
Morgan, making the announcement on social media, said she is expecting a baby girl in April 2020. Morgan made the announcement in an Instagram post with her husband Servando Carrasco, a midfielder for Los Angeles Galaxy.
"We are already in love and we haven’t even met her yet. Newest member of the Carrasco family, coming soon," Morgan tweeted.
During the 2019 World Cup, she tied a record for most goals in a single game with five in a 13-0 victory over Thailand. In the semifinals, she scored the go-ahead goal in a 2-1 victory over England. Then in the finals, Morgan drew a penalty, which was converted by teammate Megan Rapinoe.
Morgan then returned to briefly play for her club team, Orlando Pride, for two games in August, but was ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Morgan's US Women's National Team is in the midst of its victory tour, with its next game being played in Columbus, Ohio, against Sweden on Nov. 7.
