Clarina Rabe Chu, 88, was traveling eastbound on Navajo Road in a Toyota Prius when she ran a red light at Park Ridge Boulevard and collided with a Toyota Camry being driven by 76-year-old Marjorie Bialk, according to the medical examiner.

The cause of death for both women was listed as multiple blunt force injuries. They died at Sharp Memorial Hospital despite efforts by medical staff to revive them, the medical examiner said.

The crash occurred in foggy conditions, shortly after 6:30 a.m., causing the usually busy intersection behind Patrick Henry High School to be closed for more than four hours, according to San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali.
