Update, 8:40 a.m.: SDG&E's power outage map now indicates that the restoration to affected areas will happen at 2:00 p.m., rather than the earlier time of 8:30 a.m.
OTAY MESA, Calif -- A motorcyclist died after crashing into an electrical transformer box causing a power outage early Monday morning.
The crash occurred on Picador Boulevard between Palm Avenue and Beyer Way, and has shut down traffic south of Palm. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, 10News photojournalist Paul Anderegg said.
Otay Elementary School and 625 customers lost power at 5:35 a.m. and it's expected to be restored by 8:30 a.m.
Traffic investigators are investigating the cause of the crash.
