SPRING VALLEY, Calif. -- A woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after police said she was involved in a hit-and-run with her child in the backseat Sunday night.

Officers pulled over a silver BMW with no front tire around 11:20 p.m. on Parkside Avenue near Reo Drive. The female driver's young son was in the backseat.

The car had sustained major body damage and matched the description of a vehicle seen leaving the scene of an earlier crash, according to California Highway Patrol.

Police believe the suspect was involved a hit-and-run that occurred a half hour earlier on Jamacha Road and Helix. The driver was arrested.

The victim called 911 and chased a silver BMW until it entered State Route 125.

There were no reported injuries. It was not immediately clear who took custody of the suspect's son after she was arrested.
