SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man was attacked and robbed after leaving an Imperial Beach-area store Thursday night, and police believe the incident is linked to two other robberies in the area.

San Diego police said the victim was leaving a store in the 2300 block of Grove Avenue, near Nestor Park, when he was jumped and punched by a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

The victim ran away, but moments later, he was attacked by three men wearing masks who then robbed him at gunpoint.

“That guy was waiting for me with a gun … and the other ones got out of the car and pointed at me with the guns, too. That’s when they took my phone and my credit card and got away,” the victim said.

Police said they are investigating two similar robberies in Imperial Beach and believe they were may have been carried out by the same group.
