SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A vehicle-sized boulder was removed Thursday from a roadway in Ramona, but the road remains closed due to other debris.
At least one massive boulder was reported at about 9:30 a.m. in the area of Indian Oaks Rd. on State Route 78, blocking traffic as high winds and heavy rain battered the area, according to the California Highway Patrol. The boulder forced a closure on SR-78 in both directions, Caltrans says.
The agency tweeted just before 2 p.m. that the boulder was removed, but the road remains closed due to two power poles that also fell in the area.
Before the boulder fell, both directions of SR-78 were already closed at Bandy Canyon Rd. because of a downed telephone pole, according to Caltrans.
Thursday's storm has brought several road closures and crashes throughout San Diego County:
