CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — More than one year after a South Bay teen was fatally stabbed at a party, investigators are asking the public for help once again to find those responsible.
On Jan. 31, 2020, 15-year-old Devin Griffiths was attending a birthday party at about 10:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Maria Way in Chula Vista. According to attendees at the party, two teenagers began to fight and the altercation eventually moved into the street.
During the fight, Griffiths, who was not initially involved, tried to help a friend being attacked by several young men, Chula Vista Police said. After he jumped in, he was stabbed multiple times in his upper body.
Griffiths stumbled away and fell to the ground. He was taken to UCSD Medical Center with critical injuries. On Feb. 16, he died of his injuries.

The group of young men fled the scene in at least two unknown vehicles. Officers who responded to the scene detained and interviewed multiple partygoers, who provided limited information. Two arrests were made, though they were unrelated to the stabbing.
Since the stabbing, officers say they have tried to contact all the attendees of the party to gather more information. The group involved in the stabbing is believed to have included eight to 15 people, mostly young men but also women. All suspects were described as either Hispanic or white, between the ages of 17 and 20 years old.
Police believe some witnesses may have recorded the fight with their cellphones.
Anyone with information or who has cameras outside their home in the vicinity of the party is asked to call Chula Vista Police at 619-691-5074 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 888-580-8477.
