SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police officers blocked off part of Normal Heights after they thought someone fired a shot at them from a home Monday afternoon.
The incident happened on the 4400 block of 40th Street when officers were called to the home by a man who said he needed to be checked on.
"The subject called in on himself, was not specific about his condition, but needed to be checked on by officers," the department said.
When police arrived at the scene, they heard a gunshot before establishing a perimeter. Just before 6 p.m., police fired pepper ball rounds into the home before sending a robot into the home, finding the man dead.
No officers were injured.
