SAN DIEGO — San Diego police say a man is in custody after a deadly hatchet attack in Bay Ho on Monday afternoon.
Officers were first called to the area of Santa Fe Street and Damon Avenue around 4:50 p.m. for reports of a man being attacked with a hatchet near the intersection.
Police say a victim, identified as a man around 50 years, was found in the street with multiple lacerations to his head. The man did not survive his injuries.
The suspect was believed to be in a travel trailer in the area and officers called for the occupants to exit the trailer.
Police say a 39-year-old man exited and was taken into custody without incident.
A "young female juvenile" was also in the trailer and was taken into protective custody. Investigators believe the child is the suspect's daughter.
The investigation is ongoing.
