SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A University City liquor store owner is out hundreds of dollars after he said two women walked into his store and left with an expensive bottle of whisky.

Haithem Ballo said the theft of a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label at his Courtesy Liquor & Deli happened on the afternoon of Sept. 11.

The store’s surveillance cameras show two women walking into the business and making their way to the back of the store with the bottle, which is priced at around $250.

One woman puts the bottle down and then hands it to the other woman, who walks over to the register. The other walks out to a car parked in the front of the store.

Moments later, the woman standing in line at the register is seen walking out of the store, without paying for the bottle.

Ballo said he ran after the women, but as they got into a truck, he was assaulted by a man in the vehicle.

“He just hit me in the my eyes, and the lady -- she was in the back -- she hit me in my head,” Ballo said.

Ballo filed a report with San Diego police and hopes the women are caught before someone else is victimized.

“I work hard for this money. It’s not easy and it’s a family business …,” Ballo said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact San Diego police.
