SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspect was taken into custody following a SWAT standoff and officer-involved shooting in Paradise Hills that forced a nearby elementary school to go into lockdown.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a SWAT team was called to a home on the 1800 block of Altamont Court around 2 p.m.

Police say the call was related to a person with a mental issue.

At some point during the incident, an officer-involved shooting occurred, though it's unclear what led to the shooting or whether or not anyone was shot.

Due to the incident, Paradise Hills Elementary School, which is in close proximity to the home, went into lockdown as a precaution.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and will continue in the area for an unknown amount of time.
