Del Mar hit-and-run suspect sought, victim still hospitalized

DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) — Deputies are searching for a driver who recently hit a 39-year-old man in a Del Mar alley and sped off.

The victim was walking southbound in an alley between 10th and 11th Streets at about 2 a.m. on Nov. 9, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.

An unknown vehicle driving northbound in the alley struck the victim without stopping to check on him, and left the scene.

The victim suffered several injuries, including a broken pelvis, tibia, fibula, and femur, and several cuts to his body and head. The man is expected to survive his injuries, but is still hospitalized.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved was a light-colored, compact SUV. It may now have minor damage to its front, investigators added.
