All officers are on administrative leave per their agency’s policies, according to a news release from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's officials said the department's Homicide Unit is investigating the Oct. 4 incident.

The shooting took place following a pursuit that started in Orange County around midnight on Oct. 4 and ended on Interstate 805 south near Orange Avenue.

At some point after the chase ended, officers opened fire on the suspect, Christopher Ulmer, 33, who was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
