OTAY MESA (KGTV) — Three people are injured after a hazmat incident at a sugar refinery in Otay Mesa Tuesday, according to Cal Fire.
Officials say workers were cleaning a silo when sodium hydroxide "flashed."
Two people are in critical condition and one has minor injuries.
People were initially evacuated, but, because of the heat, there was a shelter-in-place at the building.
The incident was contained to the building with crews currently cleaning up.
