SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Extra San Diego lifeguards are on duty at local beaches to handle crowds on the sunny Fourth of July holiday weekend.
City of San Diego Lifeguards made 153 rescues and 131 medical aids on Saturday and Sunday, according to spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz.
Muñoz said full-time and seasonal lifeguards are on duty. Some lifeguards are working overtime.
San Diego Fire-Rescue reported injuries due to stingrays and tweeted a picture of beachgoers with soaking their feet in buckets. Officials warned anyone going into the water to shuffle their feet.
