Information, evacuations in North San Diego County fire emergency

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Lilac Fire broke out Thursday morning in North San Diego County amid dangerous Red Flag wind conditions.

10News has useful information for evacuees and those concerned about their safety.

ROAD CLOSURES AS OF FRIDAY MORNING (Dec. 8) - 8:45 a.m.:

  • Eastbound SR-76 from E. Vista Way to I-15 closed
  • Westbound SR-76 from Old Hwy 395 to Mission Rd. closed
  • Lilac Rd. between I-15 and Camino Del Rey closed
  • Gopher Canyon Rd. at Vista Way closed; SB I-15 at Hwy 395 - off-ramp blocked
  • NB & SB I-15 in area OPEN but traffic backed up

HOW TO HELP

Red Cross officials is asking anyone willing to help in the relief effort for financial donations, instead of physical goods. Donations can be made at 800-RED-CROSS or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Red Cross will provide updates if physical donations are needed. Volunteers are not immediately needed but anyone can register at www.redcross.org/volunteer.

Del Mar Fairgrounds accepting resources for the animals displaced by the fires. They are mostly in need of bedding and feed -- alfalfa and natural grass -- as well as general pet supplies and food. To drop off your donations, drive to the east stable gate off of Jimmy Durante Boulevard. Volunteers over the age of 18 will be given shifts that start at 6 a.m. Friday.
