IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. - Crews are working to repair a gas leak near Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach Friday afternoon.
The gas leak was reported shortly after 1 p.m. in the 500 block of Elm Ave., according to authorities. 10News learned a backhoe accidentally ruptured a natural gas line at a construction site, causing vapors to leak into the air.
The leak prompted officials at nearby Mar Vista High School to end classes a couple minutes earlier than usual, with students being leave the campus through an alternate exit away from the gas leak scene.
No injuries were immediately reported.
