SANTEE, Calif. — The family of a murdered woman is raising money to increase the reward for information that may lead to an additional killer or person involved.
"I'm broken hearted, I miss her so much," said Rosanna Reyes, Leticia Arroyo's mother. Emotions are still raw for Reyes. "October third, I went to see my daughter before I went to work. I got to hug her, kiss her and tell her I love her."
That would be the last time she would get to see her daughter. Arroyo was murdered in cold blood inside her Santee apartment.
"October fourth, some people went in her home and took her life," she said.
This past week, investigators arrested an acquaintance of Arroyo who is suspected of killing her. Her family is puzzled as to why anyone would hurt her.
"She had a very big heart, she loved helping people, very giving," said Reyes.
Family and friends signed a picture and shared hugs remembering the woman with a big heart.
"She was just one-of-a-kind. Very funny and different. We miss her so much," said Leticia's sister, Pricilla Chavez.
Her family held a breakfast fundraiser. They want to raise money to increase the Crimestopper's reward in case there's a second killer or person involved. They also need help with funeral expenses.
"I know it's going to be hard around the holidays," said Reyes.
Family and friends say justice can't come soon enough.
"Just help me, I'm desperate," said Reyes. "If you know anything, if it was your daughter, or your granddaughter, or your sister, niece. This is very hard."
The family has set up a GoFundMe account.
