Firefighting resources from San Diego County agencies battle Lilac Fire

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Firefighters from several San Diego agencies worked Thursday on the Lilac Fire burning in North County.

A total of 700 crews from Cal Fire, North County Fire, Vista Fire, Oceanside Fire and Camp Pendleton Fire crews were engaged in the battle.

Other Marine Corps and Navy military firefighting assets will be requested Friday morning, officials said.

Cal Fire exercised its agreement with San Diego Fire-Rescue to utilize their helicopter for night flying operations Thursday night.

70 San Diego County Sheriff's deputies worked on evacuations and road closures Thursday.

The Sheriff's Department also has three helicopters capable of dropping 375 gallons of water per run.

SDG&E is assisting with an "Erickson Air-Crane," which can carry 2,650 gallons of water.
