SAN DIEGO - It took firefighters about 20 minutes to knock down a fire at a vacant boarded up house in Otay Mesa West Friday morning, authorities said.
A passerby noticed the fire about 5:30 a.m. on Lindbergh Street near Doolittle Avenue and called 911, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Lee Swanson. Firefighters found smoke and flames showing when they arrived.
No one was in the house when firefighters got there and no one was injured. Investigators were called in to determine the cause of the fire and tally the damage, Swanson said.
Power lines were seen burning as a result of the house fire, according to Swanson, but there was no word on whether any power outages were reported in the area.
