EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - Community activists and the family of El Cajon Police shooting victim Alfred Olango marked one year since his death Wednesday.

Olango, a 38-year-old immigrant from Uganda, died Sept. 27, 2016.

The National Action Network San Diego and the Alfred Olango Foundation announced Wednesday new efforts to organize a citizens review board for police practices. The groups said Reverend Shane Harris blasted El Cajon City Councilman Ben Kalasho for denying to make attempts at police reform. Harris also cited Mayor Bill Wells for what the groups said is a failure to reach out to community activists and leaders over the past year.
