FALLBROOK (CNS) - A DUI suspect led a California Highway Patrol officer on a brief road chase on state Route 76 this afternoon before crashing the SUV he was driving near Bonsall Preserve and getting arrested.
The roughly five-minute pursuit began shortly after 3 p.m. at Gird Road, where the officer saw the white Ford Explorer drifting in and out of lanes and veering onto the wrong side of the road, CHP public-affairs Officer Robert
Catano said.
The motorist refused to yield, speeding, swerving and running several stoplights while continuing on to the west and south, the officer said.
Reaching Olive Hill Road, the SUV skidded out of control and overturned, leaving the driver trapped inside. Emergency crews freed the man, whose name was not immediately available, and medics took him to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of injuries of undetermined severity.
No one else was hurt in the wreck, Catano said.
