It happened just before 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of Park Blvd. and Robinson Ave.

Police said it started when an officer spotted the driver heading the wrong way in a construction zone down a closed road. When he pulled the car over, the driver took off.

Police then got a call that the man had crashed into the front of Cal Uniforms, a store front in Hillcrest.

Witnesses said the man tried running from officers, but was taken into custody and then to Mercy Hospital after being injured in the crash.

Police didn’t immediately give us the man’s identity but said he will be evaluated for driving under the influence and could face charges for felony evading.
